Since my late teens I worked in the 'care' industry both professionally and voluntarily; mostly in the field of palliative care and in particular with HIV and AIDS. After living and working in Greece as an English teacher for 7 years, I returned to England to study Counselling and Hypnotherapy. I have a special interest in the use of hypnosis for pregnancy and childbirth having experienced it first-hand and completed my Advanced Diploma on the subject. Other specialist fields of interest are anxiety and panic, bereavement, internet addiction, and working with teenagers and young adults.
As well as running a busy private practice I am also on the selection team for Children's Nursing at the University of the West of England (UWE). Past roles have included work as a Senior Tutor of hypnotherapy, supervising newly qualified therapists and researching and co-writing a web-based therapeutic programme on internet pornography addiction. More recently I studied to become a Family Mediator and I also work on a voluntary basis for a local charity, as a mentor and advocate for vulnerable children and young adults.
Personal life experiences also inform my work; raising twins as a single parent, experiencing illness as a teenager, and bereavement, make me all too aware of the everyday struggles, stresses and traumas many of us are confronted with. This is why my approach is practical and realistic as well as compassionate, empathic and creative. I use a wide range of counselling approaches to provide integrative, person-centred therapy uniquely tailored to you. By showing you unconditional respect, patience and understanding at all times, together you and I can help you reach your full potential, rediscover yourself, evolve and grow.
